I want to apply for an hourly paid role in store

We currently don't have an online system which takes applications for hourly-paid positions in store. If you are looking for this type of vacancy then you will need to contact your local store. To find your nearest store click here.

Is there a pass mark?

Unfortunately we can’t give information about the way we score applications as this forms part of the information that we’ll use to decide whether to invite you for further assessment. However, we can tell you that candidates who understand our way of working, share our values and what we stand for are more likely to be successful than those that don't. You can find more about us here

How can I prepare for my application?

The best advice for doing well in selection tests is:

  • Read all the instructions carefully
  • Check your answers to ability test questions before proceeding to the next page
  • Give answers that reflect the way that you see yourself in reality, not how you would like to be seen

Go to the careers section in almost any bookshop and you’ll find lots of books filled with advice about succeeding in selection tests. You’ll also find a page of hints and tips that will help you.

When will I hear back about my application?

You should hear from us very shortly. We do however receive a large volume of applications for our vacancies but we do aim to get back to all candidates within 7 working days

Can I log back in once I have submitted my application?

You can’t log back into the system to view or change information relating to your application. You should bring any changes to the attention of one of our recruiters later on in the recruitment process if you need to.

Will I see the results?

It is not our policy to provide detailed feedback from the online pre-selection stage of our recruitment processes. We do offer feedback based on assessment centre performance to unsuccessful candidates. Successful candidates should expect to receive feedback on their performance and what it means in terms of their development in the role.

Is there a time limit?

There is no time limit but you should work quickly and accurately. The time you take to complete the assessments is recorded.

Can I change my answers to the questions on the application form once I’ve submitted them?

No, once you have completed and submitted the application you cannot go back and change any answers.

What happens if I lose my web connection?

Just go to the online application page and enter your user name and password to log back in to your application when your connection returns. None of your answers will have been lost. To resume an application that is in progress click here .

I get the message ‘account already in use’ when I log-in

  • This happens when you have previously exited the system without clicking the log-out button. Your computer will not let you re-enter the site until 20 minutes have elapsed
  • Wait for 20 minutes and you will be able to log back in again
  • To avoid this problem use the log-out button to leave the site rather than the black ‘close window’ cross or the ‘exit’ command in the ‘file’ menu of the web browser

Does the system save my answers?

  • Every time you click Next at the bottom of the page of the test your answers are saved onto the system. If you log-out or your computer crashes your answers are safe
  • When you log-back in you will be taken through the instructions process before completing the remaining questions
  • Sometimes when you click the back button your answers may have moved or may have disappeared. Do not worry - this happens if your browser is set to work in a particular way. Your answers have been saved.

I can’t access my online application – what do I do?

If you can no longer log in to your application this means one of two things. You’ve either completed your application and just need to wait to hear from us or alternatively you’re typing in the wrong user name and/or password. Please check you’re using the ones you’ve registered with us and make sure you’re entering your user name in capital letters and password in lower case. If this does not resolve the problem, please contact us so we can help you out.

Is there a time limit for filling in the online application?

No there isn’t and you can even log out of your application and come back to it if you’re short on time! If you begin your application and don’t complete it within two weeks, we’ll send you a reminder just in case you’ve forgotten about us. After all, we wouldn’t want you to miss the closing date!

How long does the application form take to fill in?

Depending on the role you apply for your application should take between 10-35 minutes to complete. For Pharmacy and Optical roles the application will take 10 minutes if you've got your CV ready to go! Either way, you’ll be issued with a unique user name and password so that you can log out of your application if necessary and return to it when it’s more convenient for you.

I have lost my user name and password. How can I log back in to my application?

Just contact us to let us know that you’ve lost your details so that we can email them out to you.
