The Food product teams in Asda have responsibility for developing products from concept to launch and have complete ownership of products from a development, technical and quality perspective. The teams manage around 9000 food products from 1000 supplying sites, situated in the UK and around the world.
The roles sit within the Food Product Management team, which reports through the Director of Product Development and forms part of the Trading Support team.
These are additional positions that have been created to improve the technical delivery of our suppliers to support ASDA’s Product development and management strategies. The new and existing roles will cover Grocery, Core Chilled, Meal Solutions, Frozen and Bakery. Applicants should have experience of one or more of these areas in a Food Technical / NPD role from either retail or manufacturing background.
The positions will require travel, often unaccompanied, throughout the UK and worldwide to ensure strict compliance with ASDA policies and requirements.

| Responsibilities: |
Leading supplier technical strategy, compliance and development within a specific business unit.
Technical elements of product development ensuring that all due diligence requirements are met and that Asda suppliers adhere to all technical and safety standards in specified product areas.
Technical coaching within the wider product team.
Extensive communication and liaison with a wide range of internal and external parties including Product management, Technical leadership and trading teams
Specific accountabilities of the role will include:
Documented supplier risk assessment process
Scheduled & recorded supplier visit plans and associated actions
Monthly KPI reporting, Quarterly Scorecard
Cost reduction projects
Management of Customer Complaints, Testing Exceptions, Withdrawal / Recall & other Incidents
Effective management of EHO & Trading Standards Complaints
Internal Due Diligence reviews

| Requirements and Qualifications: |
Happy, and able, to operate autonomously when away from the office, the role will require a pro-active team player with strong interpersonal, organisation and management skills. Excellent planning and project management skills will be required to ensure that visits are effectively planned and conducted and actions closed out in a timely and diligent fashion.
Strong technical and decision-making skills, along with a commercial & customer understanding.
Ability to Influence, a passion for food, tenacity and integrity are essential.
PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Applicants should possess formal qualifications in either a Food / Food Technology or technical discipline, with extensive knowledge of HACCP / Food Safety & Quality systems / auditing
